ONE DEVICE TO UNITE THEM ALL! Though we are not sure based on this mysterious logo that is now shown, this device is looking less like an apple product and more like a complete and devastating assault by one of Apple's competitors on their core business with this new and revolutionary hybrid technology- perhaps Samsung is at it again. The Microsoft Connection: Let us not forget that long before the iPad or even the iPhone, no less than Bill Gates was touting the benefits of tablet based computing as far back as 2000. Gates opined that the tablet would change everything and he was right. However, Microsoft's arch rival Apple would be the one (though late to the party) that would reap the lion's share of the reward from this technology that actually traces its roots to the late 1980's. It is quite plausible, that this is in fact an updated version of the Courier project that Microsoft mysteriously canceled several years ago. The Courier was a dual display tablet-like device that looked like a book with a display on each side. Many in the industry were very excited about this device and were dismayed when Microsoft suddenly 'canceled' the program. This could be its rebirth to coincide with the launch of the Windows 8 roll out. Microsoft has been boxed into a corner lately and has made a substantial bet on the upcoming Windows 8 operating system, that will forever blur the lines between touch-based tablet computing and full Windows computing.
